TROOP COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

May 17, 2004

Present:  Steve Wiberg, Dave Puskala, Henry Puskala, Bob Leibel, Steve Lindlof, Scott Betlach, John Yarusso, Kelvin Vartti, Linda Christensen, Mike Checky, Jim Greene.

 

PLC Report:  Henry Puskala reported that they planed one meeting.  Next meeting their going to shorten up the announcements.

 

Roundtable Report:  Many flies were picked up for Saints, Twins, Cub Root Beer float days. University of Scouting next fall.  District level volunteer opportunities.  Nine boys presented their eagle projects, only four were approved. 

 

Eagle Court of Honor:  Tim Nipp’s Eagle COH will be May 19 at  7:00 at St Judes.

 

Minutes:  Approved

 

Scoutmaster Report: 

 

Teeshirts:  Dave P. will contact TJ TeeShirts to new class B for the troop.

 

Outings:

n        The first hiking merit badge outing was a success.

n        Tomahawk will be Aug. 7-14.  $50 deposit is needed when scouts signs up for Tomahawk.

n        Tomahawk cleanup weekend May 21-23.  Scott B. will coordinate.  Cost $5 to cover food.

n        Memorial Day Parade.

n        Black Hills camp at Medicine Mountain in Aug.  Andrew Lindlof is coordinating.

 

Tresurer’s Report: 

n        ~ $800 balance before pancake breakfast.  ~$3000 made in the pancake breakfast so balance is ~3800.

n        It was noted that the scout account at the scout office has a balance of zero and money needs to be deposited after the pancake breakfast. 

n        The pack will hold the new scouts money for a year.  As new scouts spend money they can get reimbursed by the pack.


Pancake Breakfast May 2: 

n        The additional scout involvement was a big help.  Sold ~80 tickets in presales.  We served ~340 people.   ($2563 in profit in 2003).  $177 of extra donations,  $775 in raffle,   $2983 net profit for 2004.

n        Should have the wooden tripod in front of church during the pancake breakfast.  (maybe need to set up advertising early, made the St Paul paper, and White Bear Press.

n        Could hand out discount coupons at the scouting for food next year.

 

Scouting for Food: 

n       Thanks to all who help for the spring Scouting for Food drive on April 24 when 2,013 pounds of food was collected for area food shelves.

 

Advancement:

 

Eagle Projects: 

n        Tim Nipp COH is Wed May 19.

n        Peter Haney is working on a project concept that still needs to be presented to troop committee.

n        Carl Betlock Eagle was approved.  Carl needs to provide details for eagle project for the newsletter.

n        Aliex Bryant project is almost completed.

n        Henry Puskala is working on the details with his project and still needs to present his project.

n        Mike Schwarts may work on a nature trail.

n        Brad Bartlet shelters at the scoccr fields.

 

Troop Court of Honor:  The next troop COH will be May 24 at St Judes.  Should attend in full uniform. 

 

Eagle Court of Honor:

Andy court of honor went real well.

 

Additional Merit Badge Dates:

Any merit badge dates should be published in the newsletter.

 

Equipment:  Steve indicated that the equipment need to be inventoried so duplicate items are not purchased.

 

Training: 

n        Next Round Table.  Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense.

 

Junior Leader Collage: 

Andrew Lindlof, Brad Bartlet attended an all day junior leadership class.  It was a good class and we should take advantage of it every year.
