Pack / Troop Interaction:

Cross-over last weekend with five boys crossing over into the Troop.  Two scouts had conflict and will cross over at the next scout meeting.  We had two buildings with 9 scouts and 5 adults.  The two buildings was nice to have for the weekend.  All of the fees for the weekend were $513.  If each scout / adults were charged $25, then we would be ~125 short.  It was agreed that the newly crossed over scouts will not be charged and the scouts that showed up for dinner only will be charged $5.  It was noted that this should be a policy that we don’t charge the new scouts for the crossover camping weekend.  Steve W. mentioned that this new policy should not prevent other cross ceremonies from occurring Mahtomedi and aside from the camping weekend the troop had additional costs associated with the new scouts (neckerchiefs, applets, embroidering)

n       The pack will need two additional Den Chiefs for the new Webelos patrols in June.

Outdoor Activities:

  • 3/15 –High Adventure Presentations presented by the council in Brooklyn Park showing demos of all of the Scout high adventure available to the troop.
  • 3/24 – Lee has a summer camp and Rich will put together a summer camp slide show.
  • April 18-20 Spring campout @ Phillippo Scout Camp.  Lee will contact the camp to see if there is an cabin available.
  • April 18-20 OA Kiwanis weekend
  • May 31 – White Water rafting.  Lee will try to get more information for a possible signup for upcoming scout meetings.
  • High Adventure in Summer 2008
  • Tomahawk 2008.  We should add dates to the calendar.  Lee will pick dates for two parent meetings in the July timeframe to go over health forms and equipment needs for summer camp.  Lee will also pick one or two equipment meetings dates.  The June 6 COH will include a Summer Camp meeting after the COH.  The estimated cost is $225 -> $235.

Service Events:

  • There is a WBL cleanup this weekend on March 8.  Ben will poll the troop to see if there is interest in assist with this service event.
  • Scouting for food on April 26.  The troop should have an adult / scout leaders to run the troop.  Last year we only had two or three scouts from the troop so we should encourage more scout participation.  We should plan this out at meetings before the scouting for food weekend.  Steve F. will talk to Ben.
  • Chair setup for St Jude on March 22.  Fred K. will send out another reminder for volunteers.

Treasures report:

$8657.18 in bank account.   We have $3745 in the scout accounts, $4912 in the troop account.  Steve K. said the pack will send the balance of the Pack scout accounts to the troop after the scout accounts have settled.

Steve L. will send John Y. the last three months of statements in the troop.

Approved to move $300 to the scout account at the district office, because Bob L. needed to pay $22 of his own money for troop supplies for the crossover.

FOS
We’re at $5850 not counting some of the gift matches with almost 100% participation which is over our goal.  Thanks to all.  The Troop will get a new flag with the FOS award using the national standard for troop flags.

Troop Improvement.

We have talked in the past about taking attendance for the troop.  Steve F. purchased items that could be given for attendance prizes.  Roundtable gives out beads for attendance and we talked about different awards.  It was suggested that tell the PLC come up with an incentive for troop attendance with uniforms.

Spring Popcorn Sale

Rich L. saw that a popcorn sale.  We have a pancake breakfast coming up.  The committed suggested that we pass on this and that we should only have one popcorn sale a year.

COH

There may need two sets of BOR’s at next Monday’s scout meeting.  Bob will send out an email to the leadership.

Bob also mentioned that the troop could use an Emergency Prep and Personal Fitness merit badge councilors and we should refresh the councilors for the Citizenship and communication merit badges.  Steve W. will give a talk at the next COH describing the duties of a merit badge councilor to see if we could get more adults to assist with the merit badges.
