o        Steve F. is looking for opportunities that are local to the community.

o        Steve W suggested that there are a couple of White Bear Lake cleanup activities, one on the ice, and one shoreline cleanup after the ice is out.

Outdoor Activities:

  • Spring Camp Webelos Transition.

o        Lee will start promoting the Webelos Transition weekend.

o        Steve W. will work with Steve K. in planning the transition weekend.

  • Tomahawk 2008:
    • Lee will have an Tomahawk signup in the next few weeks.
    • The 3/24 COH will be a good time to show a Tomahawk video.
    • The winter COH at Kathryn Abbot went well and it might be a good to continue to rent this hall for winter COH.
    • Steve suggested that there are other local churches that may have outdoor areas to hold the COH
  • White Water rafting at the St. Louis River, 5/31/08
  • High Adventure in Summer 2008 :  Steve W. suggested that the scouts should be encouraged to take part in the local high adventures in our backyard including Summers canoe base at Northern Tier and the high adventures out of Tomahawk.  This enforces the boy lead high adventures following the BSA guidelines.  The council is also leading a contingent to Philmont which is available if the contingent is not filled.  It’s too late for the troop to attend Philmont in 2008 and possibly in 2009.
    • Fred K. will talk to Bob. T. about being an Adult mentor for upcoming high adventures.

Treasures report:

Treasure absent – no report:

There are four signatures for the troop.  (Steve L., Fred K, John Y., Fr. Talbert).

Re-charter:

So far 35 Scouts have re-chartered, with just a couple of scouts dropping and some aging up.  25 Adults have re-chartered.

Roger B. indicated that at one time a policy was made to re-charter Ex-Eagle scouts as adults with a fee.  These Ex-Eagles can be a good resource to the troop and can be especially useful to participate with the BOR.  Lee suggested that since it was a past policy we should honor it.  Steve W. suggested that we should honor it for the Ex-Eagles who live in the community and are interested in helping with the troop instead of all Ex-Eagles.

Charter Org Rep:

John Y. is now our charter rep to St. Jude’s.

Scout Sunday on 2/3

Steve F. indicated that Scout Sunday is on Feb. 2.  It was suggested that a sign up sheet be created to have all of the scouts should sign up to demonstrate their scout spirit at their local churches on Scout Sunday activities.  John Y. will contact Father to see which mass he would like scouts to participate with extra duties, greeters, ushers, alter servers, ect. (if they are trained for the duty)

50 year Troop Birthday (Dec 28, 2007)

Troop 433 just had its 50th birthday.  To celebrate Linda will organize at 50 year trip celebration at the spring’s pancake breakfast..  Steve W. suggested that we could spruce up the trailer and/or flag to acknowledge the troop history and that we should order the “50” patch for the uniforms.

The pancake breakfast fliers should indicate that this is the 50th year that the troop participated in the committee.  The newsletter should also indicate that the troop is 50 years old.
