Outings / Trip Reports:
- Klondike
fishing derby
- Some
boys built a T433 entrance. The
Cub Scout / Girl Scouts ran the derby sled. The cooking demo provided generous
samples and was a success.
- There
was a smaller turnout, probably due to the weather and concerns about the
ice with ~40 scouts attending.
- The
event was well organized. Five
hours was probably too long so there will be some changes for next
year. The rocket demo will
probably be dropped due to the problems with the rockets in the cold (and
damp) weather.
- 2/5/06 Trollhaugen Ski
Day
- Light
turnout, probably due to the supper bowl. The next Trollhaugen Scout ski date
is 3/5/06.

- 5/20/06 STAR*fun Council Valley Fair Day
- PLC
voted to go camping at Valley Fair.
- Pack
433 could supply the food the Boy Scouts cook the food. Scouts can camp but the families can
spend the day. Lee should try
to get 12 slots.
- 8/5/06->8/12/06 Tomahawk 2006
- Lee
handed out Tomahawk signup at the last Troop meeting asking for a deposit to
reserve the Tomahawk spot.
- Patrol
Outings
- Eagle
Patrol is working on scheduling a Vertical Endeavors climbing merit badge
opportunity.
- Vertical
Endeavors requires a First Aid merit badge prior to climbing to avoid the
safety class before the climbing starts. The date of the outing has not
been scheduled.
- Copper
head went to Dicks to go climbing and also went on a
bowling.
- The
Bullheads and Dads will be taking another canoe trip
to
Canada this summer. August
19-26th. We put money down last week.
Recharting
- Recharting
was turned in on 1/31/06. 44
Scouts and 20 adults. There are a
few holdouts that Dennis has contacted.
There are a few scouts who dropped including some who moved out of the
area. Wyeth mentioned that an
update to the scout accounts should be given to the scouts in January prior to
the recharting to give the scouts time to spend any money in the scout
accounts.
Scout Account
Setup
- A
$2170 commission check was received from the popcorn checks. Most of this money goes to the scout
accounts for the scouts who helped with the popcorn sales.
- John
Y. sent out the scout account setup for review. Review and send any comments back to
John and cc the troopleadership@mahtomedi433.org.
Everybody should review this
and be ready to vote on it next meeting.
FOS
- We
made our stretch goal. As a
reward the district is offering the troop a new flag topper for our flag
pole. We have ~95% return, so
there’s still time to donate if you haven’t done so yet. Paul will do FOS again next year, but
would like a partner to shadow him.
We’re around $6100 including the matching gifts. Paul mentioned that the Pack is short
of their goal, so if you have a choice to donate between the Troop and Pack,
it probably would be better to donate to the Pack.
Pancake
breakfast.
- Fred
K. will be the adult leader.
- Date
is May 7 even though this conflicts with the district spring camporee.
- Fred
K. scheduled the first adult planning meeting on 2/8/06 @
7pm
- Kyle
Y. volunteered to be the scout leader.
District Merit Badge Day, February
11.
- The
district is looking for Merit Badge councilors for the District Merit Badge
Day. They would like for the
scouts to finish the merit badge during the merit badge day, so some work on
the merit badge may be needed before the merit badge day.
Advancement:
- Eagle
projects –
- Brad
Bartlet - Storage cabinets in the St. Judes Gym and a cubby for the athletic
directory office.
- A
couple of boys have contacted Steve about possible eagle projects.
- We
need to make sure that Kohler Hall is reserved for the court of honors. The last few COH didn’t have the
Kohler hall reserved. The PLC needs to pick some dates for
the upcoming COH.
- Steve
suggested that maybe we could have a COH in April and then another one in mid
June.
- Wyeth
proposed 4/24 and 6/12 as possible dates for the COH. Steve K. will contact Jennifer to
reserve Kohler hall for the dates for the COH.
Training.
- University
of scouting.
- Wood
Badge
New
Business:
- The
troop could consider putting a deck on the rectory as a troop service project
however this shouldn’t be a eagle
project.
- Dennis
would like the troop to try to reserve Kohler hall for all meetings next
year.
- Fred
K. volunteered to be the new committee chair effective at the next committee
meeting in March. Thanks Fred,
and thanks to Dennis for all of his work.
Grey Wolf:
- Two
solid candidates that are still considering.
