for CITs for all camps this summer. Feb. 7 is 2004 Scout Sabbath; the district
would like troops to make a showing and be recognized by pastors if possible.
The suggestion was made to have scouts usher at a mass. Dennis will contact
Wyeth.
Secretary:
Newsletter and other documents and items can be placed on Web. Send to Tom
Stangl.
Outings:
Fred
C. Andersen weekend was great, with 19 scouts and 5 adult leaders attending.
Scouts made great progress with 2nd class requirements. We need to remember to
bring a copy of our tour permit to the camp (St. Paul office does not send one).
The new storage facility in the Ark worked great for quickly unloading and
stowing gear. Okpik deposit is paid. Twelve participants are registered and
there’s room for more. All will be in cabins this year. We’re still working on
Tomahawk dates. Steve passed out brochures for the Black Hills Medicine Mountain High Adventure Scout
Ranch as a possible alternative for older scouts. More info is coming. Jim
Greene will follow up.
Klondike
Derby: The
derby is scheduled for Feb. 7 at Kramer Farm. Webelos will be invited again. We
may need to build a new sled.
Treasurers
Report: Balance
is about $1,600. Pancake breakfast raised $1,050 for church. Troop pancake
breakfast will be April 25, April 18 second choice. Need money for Silver
Pathfinder. Will ask Kramer Berg American Legion Post and church, maybe Lions.
We should put a note in the newsletter asking for a contact at American Legion.
Cost is about $200 per scout. Rechartering is $10 per scout plus $10.80 (?) for
Boys Life. Discussion ensued and a motion passed to bill adult leaders the $10
recharter fee. Feb. 25 is the rechartering deadline. Rechartering should be
included in newsletter with payment due Jan 31. Scholarships are available.
Dennis, Jim, Wyeth, Paul, and Steve W will take care of
rechartering.
Advancement:
Andy Leibel’s Eagle Board of Review will be later this week. Bob reminded all to
get information on boards of review and merit badges to him as soon as possible
for the Jan 19 Court of Honor.. Carl Betlach’s and Alex Bryon’s Eagle projects
are on their way to the district review committee. A note is needed in the next
newsletter requesting a fitness merit badge counselor.
