PLC Report:  (Hobbies Theme)

4/14:    Preopening – (15 min)— Scout hobby display (Kyle, Jed, Kyle Y.)

Opening – Roadrunner

Skills / Instruction - High Adventure (30 min) – New scouts tenderfoot with troop guides, Merit Badges (Coin Collecting, Cycling)

Patrol Meeting (20 min) –

Inter-Patrol Activity (20 min) – Kyle W, Andrew Planning

Closing (5 min) –

PLC Need:  Scoutmaster Minute rotating thru assistant Scoutmasters each week.

4/21:    Preopening – (15 min)— Space Derby Demo (Hawks)

Opening – Eagle Patrol

Skills / Instruction - High Adventure (30 min) – New scouts tenderfoot with troop guides, Merit Badges (Coin Collecting, Cycling)

Patrol Meeting (20 min) – Hand out space derby cars and start working on them.  Hawk Patrol will preglue rockets.

Inter-Patrol Activity (20 min) –  Josh, Kyle Y Planning.

Closing (5 min) –

Skills / Instruction - High Adventure (30 min) –. Troop Elections SPL.

Patrol Meeting (20 min) – Patrol Elections, finish space derby rockets.

Inter-Patrol Activity (20 min) – Space Derby

PLC Need:  Fred will contact Tom S to update the troop elections on the calendar

 Fred suggested that the PLC give an announcement other leadership positions.  This information can come from the web.

Pancake Breakfast:

Fred had the last pancake breakfast planning meeting and everything looks in place.  Linda / Steve suggested that the patrols should be contacted with reminders that about the display setup.


Steve K. request from St Jude, 28 tables for ~200 seating and 20 white tables for displays / food setup.

 

n       Need Duty Roster posted in the kitchen.

n       Steve W. will wash up the trailer to display by the door

Channel 5 will be here unless there is a higher priority story.  Approval to buy 3/8 Hemp rope.

9am mass for Pope Pious emblem.  Can Gina / Dave P. lead the ceremony?

 

Outdoor Activities:

Fred will contact Lee to email  the troop about the April campout.

Wyeth suggested that we combine this with next years OA Kiwanis weekend.

  • April 18-20 OA Kiwanis weekend
  • May 31 – White Water rafting.  Lee will try to get more information for a possible signup for upcoming scout meetings.
  • High Adventure in Summer 2008
  • Tomahawk 2008.  Lee will pick dates for two parent meetings in the July timeframe to go over health forms and equipment needs for summer camp.  Lee will also pick one or two equipment meetings dates.  The June 6 COH will include a Summer Camp meeting after the COH.  The estimated cost is $225 -> $235.
    • Steve K. suggested that the Toma-walk for the Navaho’s should have a better description of what Troop 433 does at Tomahawk.

 

Service Events:

  • Scouting for food on April 26.  We should plan this out at meetings before the scouting for food weekend.  Andrew B. will be the scout lead.
  • St Jude is asking the troop for help with a Landscaping service project.  This is a three phase project, removing shrubs/rocks, planting shrubs, place rocks over two weekends.  Rich L. and Bob T. will be the adult leads to assist the scouts.  Steve F. suggested the scouts could help on 4/26, however there was conflict with scouting for food.  Wyeth suggested Memorial day weekend to allow the PLC to discuss this.
  • First week of May for shoreline cleanup and wood duck house cleaning needs to pick a date.

 

 

Grey Wolf

Jonthan Kuhn and Kevin Fiddler have been nominated for Grey Wolf and need to pick Grey Wolf weekend dates that they can attend.

n       We can send additional scouts to Gray Wolf.

 

Treasures report:

Absent this month.

 

Pack / Troop Interaction:

n       Steve K. invited the Webelos II (Mike Pirozzoli’s den) to the pancake breakfast to help with a short shift.

n       The pack will need two additional Den Chiefs for the new Webelos patrols by the pack picnic on June 1.

o        Wyeth suggested a scout craft demo area.  This should be brought to the PLC for May.

o        Steve K. will supply the Pack calendar to the troop.

 

Other

n       St Jude would like the scouts to clean up their space and are considering moving the scout storage to a more accessible storage location at the front of the bowling alley.  A group from the troop needs to clean this up before next month.  We’ll take a look at this Saturday.  (Steve W/ Rich L.) 

o        The arc storage area also needs to be cleaned up.

n       Wyeth described the training activities available:

o        Scout training at ManyPoint this summer.

o        Northern Star Council’s Diversity Award.
