TROOP COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

April 6, 2004

note: action items are underlined

Present:  Steve Wiberg, Dave Puskala, Henry Puskala, Bob Leibel, Steve Lindlof, Scott Betlach, Yohn Yarusso, Kelvin Vartti, Linda Christensen, Mike Checky, Jime Greene.

 

PLC Report:  Henry Puskala reported that the upcoming meetings will each will have ~10 minutes set aside with an adult leader.  They should discuss something reverent to scouting that the patrol leader can bring back to the next PLC.  Upcoming meetings:  4/12 camp gadgets, an activity to get to know the new scouts;  4/19 Hiking information; 4/26 Flag opening outside, flag etiquette, plant identification, fire starters.

 

Eagle Court of Honor:  Andy Leibel’s Eagle COH will be May 16 at 6:30 at St Judes.

 

Minutes:  Approved

 

Scoutmaster Report:  Steve reported that the Fred C Anderson campout was a success.  He also commented that the bridging ceremony was excellent and he recommended that we use the ceremony in future bridgings.

 

Roundtable Report:  Steve received a 2004 Merit Badge Consular list.  Fliers were received for Ringling Brothers Circus, the Manitou District dinner and information on High Adventure (Lake Superior).

 

Outings: 

n        Tomahawk will be Aug. 7-14.  $50 deposit is needed when scouts signs up for Tomahawk.  Make note in newsletter.

n        Afton Hiking outing, May 5 at Afton state park for the hiking merit badge.

n        Tomahawk cleanup weekend May 21-23.  Scott B. will coordinate.  Cost $5 to cover food.

n        Memorial Day Parade.

n        Black Hills camp at Medicine Mountain in Aug.  Andrew Lindlof is coordinating.

 

Tresurer’s Report: 

n        FOS was a success.

n        ~ $1000 in checkbook.  Need to write out a few checks for the Fred C. Anderson campout. 

n        It was noted that the scout account at the scout office has a balance of zero and money needs to be deposited after the pancake breakfast.


Pancake Breakfast May 2: 

n        Next planning meeting April 14.

n        May 2 date is comfirmed.  We need to be done by 12:30 – 12:45 to make room for the play.

n        Paul Hoff indicated that we are allowed to pre-sell tickets before the Masses.

n        It was noted that John Ralf is in charge of the Lions signs.

 

Scouting for Food:  April 24.  Andrew Lindlof and Shane Schulte will coordinate along with Dennis.

 

Eagle Projects: 

n        Tim Nipp presented his project to the Mahtomedi city concil.

n        Carl Betlach Eagle project is progressing.  Close-ups listed that Home Depot may donate building materials if someone meets their list of approval.

n        Henry Puskala is working with the City of Hugo to work on the Rice Creek Watershed district storm drainage.

 

Troop Court of Honor:  The next troop COH will be May 24 at St Judes.

 

Equipment:  Steve indicated that the equipment need to be inventoried so duplicate items are not purchased.

 

Training: 

n        Outdoor Leader skills May 1 or May 22 at Cannon Falls.

n        Next Round Table.  Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense.

 

Junior Leader Collage: 

n        Andrew Lindlof, Brad Bartlet attended an all day junior leadership class.  It was a good class and we should take advantage of it every year.

Lions Pancake Breakfast:  Thanks to Andrew Lindlof, Tony West and Mike Greene who donated ~2.5 hours of work at the lions pancake breakfast.
