TROOP
433 NEWS
FOR SCOUTS AND PARENTS
Annual dues are only $10 this year because the troop is picking up the tab for Boys Life. Please pay Steve Lindlof as soon as possible.
All scouts, parents, and friends are invited to Tony Hoff’s Eagle Court of Honor Sunday, April 13. The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. with refreshments following.
Several Troop 433 scouts and Webelos participated in the Klondike Derby in February. In addition to the sled race, they enjoyed other winter activities and a good hot lunch. More than a dozen scouts and adults earned their Zero Hero badges that same weekend when they camped in 15 below zero weather in the Boundary Waters as part of the troop’s Okpik contingent. Younger scouts stayed in a cabin in preparation for camping out next year. Check out the current issue of Closeups (council newspaper) to see our Okpik scouts in action.
Roger Brogren will offer the communications merit badge in April or May. This is a great chance to earn this Eagle-required badge. To sign up call Mary Hoff, 426-5052.
The troop needs your help to fill a duffle bag with basketballs, footballs, Frisbees, etc., for use in the gym during troop meetings. If you have a new or used item you can donate to the cause, please bring it to the troop meeting.
The next troop committee meeting will be April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Klein Ministry Center. All parents and adult leaders are invited to attend. Please note the date change.
Whitewater Rafting on the St. Louis River, Ripley Rendezvous, and a fun cleanup weekend at Tomahawk are among the activities planned for the next couple of months. The whitewater rafting trip is full, but you can get more information and sign up for the other events at the troop meeting. Signup deadline for Ripley Rendezvous is April 10.
Sean Donovan, Mike Greene, Dan Hoff, Eric Lauer-Hunt, Nick Lindeke, and Tony West were chosen to attend Silver Pathfinder Junior Leadership Training Camp at Tomahawk this summer. The camp will help them gain skills they can use to provide leadership to the troop. Talk to Steve Wiberg if you’d like to be nominated for next year’s contingent.
Our pancake breakfast fund raiser will be May 4. Scouts and adults are needed to help set up, cook, serve, and clean up. This is a great chance to get sticky and to get to know other scouts and parents. Sign up at the troop meeting or call Steve Lindlof at 429-1144.
